Terms of Service

1. Agreement

Dessa Voice ("Dessa Voice", "we", "our") runs an AI voice web app at dessavoice.org. When you create an account or use any part of the app, you accept these Terms of Service. If you don't accept them, don't use Dessa Voice.

2. What Dessa Voice provides

The app has two tools:

Voice Chat lets you speak through your microphone with an AI voice that answers out loud. A transcript is shown in your browser while the call runs.
Voiceover reads text you type or paste and saves the narration in your library as a WAV file, which you can download or delete whenever you like.

Features may be added, changed or retired over time. If a change would substantially cut back something you have already paid for, we will try to tell you before it happens.

3. Your account

Sign-up works with an email and password or with Google. You need to confirm your email address before the tools unlock.
Keep your details accurate and your password private. What happens under your login is your responsibility.
You need to be of legal age to make a binding agreement in your country.
If you suspect someone else got into your account, write to support@dessavoice.org straight away.

4. Paying with credits

Dessa Voice only works with paid credits. There is no free tier, trial or welcome credit.

Voice Chat: 1 minute costs 10 credits. Time is metered every 6 seconds, and every call is billed for at least 15 seconds.
During a call, credits are reserved in 30-second slices. When you hang up, whatever part of the reserved time you didn't use goes back to your balance.
Voiceover: 1 credit per 160 characters of text, with a minimum of 1 credit, taken when you request the voiceover.
If a call never connects or a voiceover produces no audio, its credits are returned to your balance automatically.
The price you pay is the one shown on the pricing page when you buy. Tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live.

5. Plans

Three plans are available: Lite, Plus and Studio, each billed monthly or yearly.
A plan renews by itself at the end of each billing period until you cancel it.
Plan credits are added once a month, on yearly billing too. Credits left over when a monthly cycle ends lapse; they don't roll over.
Moving up to a bigger plan takes effect immediately, with the price difference charged pro rata for the rest of the period. Moving down takes effect from the next period.
Cancel anytime in the billing portal under /settings/billing. You keep your plan until the period you paid for is over.

6. Credit packs

Packs are bought once and their credits never lapse.
Plan credits are always spent first; pack credits are spent after they run out.

7. Payment processing

Stripe handles all payments. You enter card details on Stripe's pages, and they never pass through our servers. Stripe's own terms also apply to your payment.

8. Refunds

Within 7 days of a payment, you can ask for a refund by writing to support@dessavoice.org from your account email. Purchases with no credits spent are refunded in full. For purchases that have been partly used, we may refund the unused share at our discretion.
Approved refunds are paid back to the original card or payment method via Stripe.
Once a payment is refunded, the credits it added that you haven't spent are taken back. If a plan period is refunded, that period's credits are removed and it earns no more credits.
Automatic refunds for failed calls, failed voiceovers or unused call time go to your credit balance, not to your card.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by anything in this section.

9. Your text and your audio

The text you submit stays yours, and between you and us, so does the audio made from it.
Voiceovers made with paid credits may be used commercially. Dessa Voice does not watermark them.
You are responsible for what you submit and how you use the audio, including having the right to use the text.
You let us process your text and audio only as far as needed to provide the app to you.

10. Prohibited uses

Using Dessa Voice to do any of the following is not allowed:

Copying a real person's voice or presenting audio as theirs without their permission.
Making deepfakes or audio designed to mislead listeners about who is speaking or what was said.
Fraud, scams or other deception.
Harassing, threatening or abusing other people.
Producing or spreading illegal content or content that violates someone else's rights.
Attacking, overloading, scraping or reverse-engineering the app, or dodging its limits or billing.
Reselling or sharing access to the app or to your account.

Accounts that break these rules may be suspended or closed. If we close an account for a serious violation, its remaining credits may be lost.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time and ask for your account to be deleted at support@dessavoice.org. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if the law requires it. Provisions that should naturally survive, such as amounts owed, disclaimers and liability limits, remain in effect afterwards.

12. No warranties

Speech and replies from Dessa Voice are generated by AI and can be wrong, odd or unsuitable, so check them before you depend on or publish them. The app is provided "as is" and "as available" with no warranties, to the extent the law allows. We can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

13. Liability cap

As far as the law allows, Dessa Voice is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. For any claim about the app, our total liability is limited to what you paid us during the 12 months before the claim. This does not exclude liability that the law says cannot be excluded.
